This was the fifth book I've read by this author. It was very confusing because it went back and forth. The ending was surprising ,but it was very strange. I can only give it 4 stars because I really did not like the end of the book.

Who is the vistor really? The man next door? The girl from the post office? The girl who's having the affair? This book will keep your mind circling as if vultures found a corpse! Enen when you thought you had it alo figured out, the plot twists one more time. Give it a shot! You won't be disappointed.
Must read! The book is intriguing all the way, you really are not sure exactly what is going on. The interaction is interesting, and you know something is going on, but I could not point a finger on it, and kept guessing. The ending was a real mind blower. If you figure it out, you are a better investigator than me. Don't miss it!
All I can say is WOW! I know we all act different, with different , with different people in our lives, like a minister compared to say a waitress. So just think about that for a minute
Now YOU stay in that one you chose too live!
You have a plan. Plans are good until they are not! You will see now why this book is so good and could not put it down. I am not giving anything away but the ending is a WOW!
Always an Outsider!! The Visitor is an easy read that captures the reader in a few pages and maintains that hold to the last chapter pages. The story is told in small parts, continually making references to painful situations in the pasts of Two main characters.

The kindness of an elderly woman helping a young woman who appears
to be at her wits end and truly struggling with life becomes the beginning of her end. The neighbor, also an Outsider, adds a dimension to the story that pulls the characters into the same space and allows the reader to attempt to untangle the story.

I enjoyed this psychological thriller and look forward to reading more stories by K.L. Slater.
I’ve found that this writer’s books are a bit formulaic. The characters are all deeply flawed, the story doesn’t get going until well over half the book. They’re an easy read, and they are relatively well written. But for me they’re a filler...until a favorite author’s newest book comes out or I find a new favorite....
When I got to the end of this book I was upset. It dawned on me that I had now read all of K L Slater’s books and I wondered whether I would find other books that draw the reader in and keep them gripped as successfully as this author.
More than anything this book is a good example of not everything nor everyone is as they seem. Each of the main characters, Holly, David and Cora had interesting hidden aspects to their lives and though the ending was a little unrealistic, it did not diminish my enjoyment of this easy read.
The tale takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride, with unknown twists and turns at every corner. I also liked reading the story being told from the different characters’ points of view.

The kindness of an elderly woman (Cora) helping a struggling and troubled young woman (Holly) kicks the story off in the present when Holly is invited to stay with Cora as her visitor. Cora’s neighbour, David, adds the kind of intrigue that unites the characters and allows the reader to become immersed in each of their stories.

I enjoyed this psychological thriller and look forward to reading more stories by this author.
4.5 stars! This novel was an awesome read! I enjoyed it so much, although the first 3% was so boring I was ready to call it quits. Glad I didn’t! After Holly came into the picture, the novel got more interesting. There was a character reversal that was so surprising and exciting I was flabergasted. The ending was a shocking surprise. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride, with unknown twists and turns at every corner. Things appear a certain way then turn out to be completely different. Ms. Slater wrote her chapters from alternating POV—-Holly, David, & a bit of Cora. Holly & David’s POV went from the present to the past, but it was easy to follow. She put the pieces together at the end when all was made clear. A flaw in the novel was when the reader discovers the truth about Geraldine & Evan. It seems to me that Holly’s PI she hired, or even Holly herself through internet searches would have discovered what happened to them. Holly would have discovered their whereabouts years ago. But that’s the only flaw I noticed.
I recommend this novel to any reader of suspence & psychological drama. What an unforgettable novel! It’s going to stay with me for a while.
