I don't even know where to start with this one. The characters were weak and petty, at the best of times, and the premise didn't quite add up. I love a good hockey romance, don't get me wrong, but some of the facts just didn't jive. Also, the heroine was a strong business woman who, yet again, folded under the sparkling eyes of the hero, and couldn't even stand up to her father. Found myself not caring by the mid-point of this book, and skimmed much of the rest. The writing was weak as well, with far too much 'telling' and not enough showing. The dialogue was overshadowed by the long-winded descriptions of business deals, and the inner monologues going on and on and on.
And I really could have done without the hockey terms/clichés on every other page. (These aren't direct quotes, but you'll get the idea, and they don't pop up when you'd expect them to, such as during a hockey game. No, they're part of the interactions between the hero and heroine.)
"...he was skating on thin ice..."
"...and he hit the puck right into the net with that one..."
Just, yuck.
Can't say I'll look for the following books in the series, as none of the secondary characters stood out to me, or made me want to learn more.

Skating on Thin Ice Seattle Sockeyes Hockey is book one in the Game On In Seattle series by Jami Davenport. It takes place in Seattle and Florida.

Ethan Parker was a passionate hockey fan. He was never good enough to try for the NHL; but he played with a town team. He definitely wasn’t the star but he tried. He was passionate about bringing a hockey team to Seattle. He had increased his family’s massive fortune and had lots of wealthy friends and investors. He got zoning changed to allow for the building of a new arena and practice facilities for a team. He had a structure set up to step in immediately when they obtained a team. The Commissioner of NHL hockey and the other commissioners had cleared the way for a team to move to Seattle. The team he targeted was the Gainesville Giants out of Florida. The current owners were running the franchise into the ground just to get money out of them. They were open to being bought out. However, they wanted to wait to see if the Giants made it into the Stanley Cup playoff before they sold. They were also taking other offers. Ethan’s backers insisted he go undercover and vet the team during the playoffs. The current owners insisted his identity and true purpose be kept secret. He was forbidden to tell anyone his true name and purpose. This didn’t set well with Ethan; but he had no choice but to agree.
Ethan was met with hostility from the team, staff, and coaches which he had expected. They knew he was there for a group who wanted to purchase the team; but they did not know the group would definitely move the team. Lauren Schneider was assistant director of player personnel for the Giants and was chosen to be liaison between the team and Ethan Williams (aka Ethan Parker) as he looked at the team. Lauren had worked hard for her position in the organization and was proud of her work. She just hoped the new team owners would not be the same “good ol’ boy network” that she worked for now. Lauren also had a healthy dislike for being deceived in any way. Has Ethan met his match? How will Lauren handle this new problem for her team?
This is a great start to a series.
In this book we know from the description that we have two characters that have a live for hockey and quickly start to have love for each other. I was excited to read another hockey book because the last one I read was amazing.

I really liked Ethan. I really loved his excitement when it comes to hockey owning a team and everything else that's involved. My heart broke for him for having to keep secrets but he did what he had to, even despite his past.

Lauren had such a passion for what she did and took it to heart. She was stubborn but it worked well for her character. I love how she wanted to do what was best for the team even when she was angry.

Like the hero explains it in the start of the book, this is like that show undercover boss but with an amazing romance. As the story progresses, the main characters start a strange kind of friendship, that was loosely based on a lie. There's a small mystery surrounding somethings with that story so it kept me wondering what was gonna happen.

I loved seeing all the players. It makes me really excited to read more books in this series because they all have their own qualities.

Overall, it was a good read. I love how the characters didn't jump right into bed and we see a friendship for and go from their. I plan on reading more from this series in the future. I am excited to see what will happen In Coopers book! He has to be my favorite secondary character. 4 stars #2OCCJD
While I enjoyed the hockey part of this story, the romance - if you call it that - was predictable with a tiresome overused plot. Wealthy billionaire hero "lies" to poor, hard-working heroine; poor, hard-working heroine can no longer trust wealthy, billionaire hero due to a similar incident in her past, etc. etc, etc. The last half of this book was tedious to read, and I was almost grateful for the rushed ending. The book could have done without the many edit errors, and the excessive use of the F word seemed totally out of character and unnecessary for either the hero or the heroine. All in all - a disappointment.
